Dr. Chris Benton grew up in Menomonee Falls, and began working with animals as a volunteer at Elm Brook Humane Society at age 12. Her work with animals eventually led her to Animal Emergency Center (now Blue Pearl in Glendale), where she worked as a veterinary nurse in the ICU for 4 years. She earned her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from UW-La Crosse (2007), and her DVM from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine (2011). After graduation, she returned to the Milwaukee area to practice veterinary medicine. She joined Forest Home Animal Clinic in September 2020. Dr. Benton’s professional interests include surgery, ophthalmology, and providing care to dogs, cats, and small mammals. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA) and the Milwaukee Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).
In her free time, Dr. Benton enjoys spending time with her wife (Katie), mixed-breed dog (Darwin), cat (Ruth), and guinea pig (Gus). She also keeps a variety of invertebrate pets, including hermit crabs and beetles. She enjoys gardening, tending to houseplants, painting, learning about insects and arachnids, and learning the art of bonsai. She looks forward to meeting you and your pets!
