Congratulations to everyone who participated!

As the new year rings in at Forest Home Animal Clinic, we would like to thank and congratulate the participants of the 2010 Biggest Loser Challenge. Numerous canine and feline patients weighed in over a six month period to track weight loss goals and battle for the "Biggest Loser" title and earn a $50 Forest Home Animal Clinic gift certificate. Top canine and feline winners were chosen based on percentage of weight lost; as this year's canine 2nd place was a tie between a Labrador Retriever and a Chihuahua! The honorable mention category recognizes participants that may have had less weight loss than others during the challenge, or those that had noticeable weight loss efforts over the last year visiting the clinic.

Weight loss and nutrition counseling are always available to your pet here at the clinic and we encourage the use of our weight scale any time during regular clinic hours. Also, prescription diets are available at the clinic to accelerate your dog or cat's weight loss. Both of our division winners were fed weight reduction prescription food to reach their amazing weight loss goals during the Challenge.

Shelby G.'s owner commented on her success story, "Shelby loved the prescription diet, it was not a struggle to switch her food and she was not begging to be fed more throughout the day. I simply measure the food according to the package and feed two meals a day. My other cats in the house also love the food, so I switched them all to the diet and they have also lost weight!"

Ms. M., owner of canine winner Rocky and runner up Wassa, attributes the prescription diet to their huge success, "I've always measured their food and fed my three dogs separately, but they never lost weight until I switched their food. I closely monitor their treat intake and I now take multiple walks per day with my dogs". Everyone in the household has become more active!
