Dr. James Rieser, DVM |
|

|
Dr. James Rieser received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota in 1974. He has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in three different clinics in Wisconsin before purchasing the Forest Home Animal Clinic in 1990. His special interests include canine sports medicine (conditioning, nutrition, conformation, lameness evaluation, and training of the canine athlete). He has attended numerous continuing education meetings with a high percentage being sports medicine related including an Auburn University Sports Medicine Conference.
Dr. Rieser’s hobbies and recreation parallel his practice interests. He has bred, trained, tested, and trialed German Shorthaired Pointers for over 30 years. He and his family have developed a line of German Shorthaired Pointers (Shooting Starr’s GSPs) that are well known throughout the United States and Canada.
As a family they have raised more than sixty litters (over 400 puppies) and have produced more AKC Master titled dogs than any other breeders of German Shorthaired Pointers. Dr. Rieser believes that the proper selection of physically sound and mentally stable animals is the responsibility of a good breeder. His hobbies and veterinary profession have given him a strong understanding of the importance of a good start with quality genetics. |

Dr. Rieser is an honorary life member of the GSP Club of Wisconsin, Kettle Moraine NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association), and a life member of NAVHDA International. He has been a long time member of NSTRA (National Shoot To Retrieve Association). Throughout the years he has clocked many work hours; testing and trialing many dogs. He has also held a variety of positions within these organizations including board member, treasurer, vice-president, president, and judge. Dr. Rieser is proud to have been nominated as the Best Veterinarian in America for 2007 by a current client. This award is sponsored by the Morris Animal Foundation and the Merial Corporation.
In addition, Dr. Rieser is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (WVMA), and the Milwaukee Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).
Dr. Rieser is married to his wife, Donna, who shares in the ownership of the clinic and has been active in various aspects of clinic management. They have two adult sons and an adult daughter who was called to heaven in 2005. The Forest Home Animal Clinic is dedicated to the loving memory of Kristin Rieser DVM (Honorary degree awarded in 2006 by the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine). | |
